California law values the privacy of its residents. The California Constitution was amended in 1974 to provide residents with the inalienable right of pursuing “privacy.” Courts have concluded that this provision applies to businesses collecting information on persons, including employees. Furthermore, many legislative enactments have attempted to protect a person’s privacy from the application process to termination. We invite business owners, managers, attorneys, and human resource professionals to attend, in person or via webinar, our monthly Legal Beagle Bagel Breakfast to learn more about these employee privacy rights, and how to modify business policies and practices in order to maintain a compliant workplace.
